fix(aqua): find binaries in macOS universal archives - #14665
Conversation
Some releases ship a universal macOS archive in place of per-architecture ones (fastfetch 2.70.0). mise already downloaded it, but the registry's `src` template still named the per-architecture directory, so the install warned "bin path does not exist" and `mise which` found nothing. Also try the universal layout when resolving file sources and bin paths. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Entire-Checkpoint: 01M57G08GQDSY10RVPXPA776CP

The fastfetch fixture can create
fastfetch-macos-universal/usr/bin/fastfetch, andinstallcan mark it executable when the architecture-specific path is absent. However, this fixture does not create a distinct link. With nolinkfield, the source and destination both end infastfetch, soinstallskipscreate_file_link.Aqua lookup also does not require that link. The default
Backend::whichcallslist_bin_paths, which returns the existing candidate directories and searches them directly.Add one tempdir-based test that exercises the install fallback with only the universal binary present and asserts that the binary becomes executable. Do not assert a link for the fastfetch fixture. Test link creation separately only with a fixture whose source basename and link name differ.

Fixes #14645
mise install fastfetch@2.70.0on macOS succeeded but warnedbin path does not exist: …/fastfetch-macos-aarch64/usr/bin/fastfetch, andmise which fastfetchthen failed. fastfetch 2.70.0 shipsfastfetch-macos-universal.tar.gzinstead of per-architecture assets. mise already falls back to auniversalasset when downloading, but the registry'ssrc: {{.AssetWithoutExt}}/usr/bin/fastfetchwas still rendered with theaarch64asset name, so the binary was never found. On darwin, aqua file sources (and so bin paths, links and the post-extract
chmod) now also try the path inside the universal archive. Candidates are filtered by existence, so older per-architecture releases resolve exactly as before and other platforms are unchanged.I did not edit

Scoped to darwin aqua install layout and executable marking; primary paths are tried first and other platforms are unchanged.
Overview
Fixes macOS aqua installs where the downloaded archive is a universal build but registry
srctemplates still resolve using the per-architecture asset name (e.g. fastfetch 2.70.0).On darwin, aqua file resolution now returns ordered source candidates: the usual per-arch path first, then the same template rendered with
Arch=universalvia newdarwin_universal_assets/src_candidates. The aqua backend turns each candidate into file links, so bin path discovery, symlinks, and post-extractchmodcan use the layout that actually exists on disk.make_bins_executablenow falls back to an existing candidate with the same binary filename when the expected path is missing, instead of only warning. Non-macOS behavior is unchanged when only the primary path applies; callers still pick paths that exist.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 5ad60ea.
