Review of #7111The approach is sound. Grouping rows by inferred type arguments and carrying every row on one concrete type matches the source generator, and it fixes the silent row-dropping. The fixtures in Points worth considering:
Overall this is a good fix. Please look at the cancellation regression (1) and the parity question (2) before merging. Remember this is stacked on #7100, so I only reviewed the last commit's logic. |

[Medium impact] The PR appears safe to merge; no new actionable issue was established. SummaryThe PR keeps every argument row when several rows infer the same generic types.

Review of #7111I read the diff but did not build the PR or run its tests. Overall the PR looks sound, and I found nothing blocking. What I like
Suggestions (non-blocking)
Good fix and good test coverage. |
Review of #7111I reviewed the diff by reading it. I did not build or run the tests, and the automated code-review skill failed to start. Overall: the change is well-scoped and the root causes are clearly explained. It covers both modes: the source generator's Strengths

No blocking issues found from reading the code. |

Fixes #7106
Problem
On generic test classes,
[Arguments]rows that inferred a type combination already seen were dropped, and nothing reported it. A generic class row combined with a non-generic method row crashed in source-gen mode.Bugs/_7106)GenericClassSameTypeRows(class rows1,2,3)GenericClassMixedTypeRows(1,a,2,b)GenericClassSameTypeMethodRows(method rows inferT)GenericClassMixedTypeMethodRowsGenericClassRowsTimesGenericMethodRows(2 class rows × 2 generic-method rows)GenericClassRowsTimesMethodRows(2 class rows × 2intmethod rows)GenericClassRowWithMethodRow(the issue'sFxNamesClass)Root causes and fixes
Source-gen (
TestMetadataGenerator.CollectConcreteInstantiationsand the concrete emitters)IndexOutOfRangeException: the instantiation came from the class row. Its method data sources were filtered to "the specific row", which is a class attribute, so the method's own[Arguments(7)]was never emitted, and the invoker readargs[0]from an empty array. Fix: when no parameter of the test method uses a type parameter, the method's data sources play no part in type inference. They are now always emitted, as on a non-generic class (MethodParametersReferenceTypeParameters).TryAddInstantiationdeduplicated by type key, and only fix(sourcegen): run every [Arguments] row that infers the same generic type #7100's generic-method case merged later rows. Fix: every class or method[Arguments]row that infers an existing type combination now joins that instantiation. Class rows (AdditionalClassArgumentsAttributes) are tracked apart from method rows (AdditionalArgumentsAttributes, from fix(sourcegen): run every [Arguments] row that infers the same generic type #7100). The class × generic-method passes record both the class row and its paired method row. Data sources are filtered by owner (IsSpecificClassDataSource/IsSpecificMethodDataSource), so a class row and a method row with equal values no longer match each other. The engine then multiplies the class rows by the method rows.__CreateInstancewould have baked in the first row's values for every test. It now passesargswhenever more than one class row shares the instantiation. The fixtures assertTestClassArgumentsagainst the constructor value to catch this.Reflection (
ReflectionTestDataCollector.DiscoverGenericTestsand the streaming twin)TestMetadatafor the same closed type, each with oneStaticDataSourceAttributeat index 0. The rows were therefore indistinguishable, and only one test per closed type ran. Fix:GroupClassRowsByTypeArgumentsAsyncgroups rows by inferred type arguments. Each concrete type now gets one metadata whose class data sources hold one static source per original source, so each row has its own data-source index.[GenerateGenericTest],BuildTestsFromMethodRowsinfers the class's type arguments from the method rows of each non-generic test method whose parameters use them. It reusesInferGenericTypeMappingand builds one test per instantiation, carrying only that instantiation's rows. This mirrors the source generator.BuildTestMetadatanow takes optional class and method data-source arrays instead of a singleclassDatarow.Tests
