DataModel.OpenAtCommit / OpenBeforeCommit replay to a commit once and return a disposable ModelAtCommit, so LexBox can read an entity and its relatives as of a commit without a replay per read.

await using var model = await dataModel.OpenAtCommit(commitId);
var entry = await model.Get<Entry>(entryId);
var related = model.WhereReferences(entryId);
  • Members: an untracked Commit (its changes aren't loaded), a Get<T> that throws unless T is a registered object type, GetSnapshot for callers with no compile-time type, and WhereReferences. ISnapshotView stays internal.
  • OpenBeforeCommit returns null before the first commit.
  • The replay runs under the repository lock. Later reads of entities it didn't touch go to the database and aren't protected from a sync.
  • Always replays; single-entity reads should keep using GetAtCommit, which can skip it.

#154's tests were written against the JsonSyncable constructor from before
#149, so main's test project didn't compile. Build syncables through the
factory instead.

Replays history to a commit once and hands the caller the snapshot view, so
one point in history can be asked several things (an entity, its siblings,
what references it). ISnapshotView becomes public as is.

Walkthrough

Adds ModelAtCommit, an asynchronously disposable view of model state at a selected commit. DataModel can open a view at a commit or its predecessor by using a Commit or commit ID. History replay supplies the snapshot view, and the preceding-commit query avoids tracking its result. Tests cover historical reads, checkpoints, replay, disposal, and repository locking.

Merge Risk: Low · previous review 11494

The historical views are mergeable with bounded follow-up: stop reference enumeration after disposal and avoid retaining unnecessary tracked commits. Later database-backed reads remain explicitly unprotected from concurrent sync.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: adding OpenAtCommit so several entities can be read from one replay. The raw summary confirms DataModel.OpenAtCommit and the ModelAtCommit reader. The title is specific and matches the objectives, so it passes.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states that DataModel.OpenAtCommit and OpenBeforeCommit replay once and return a disposable ModelAtCommit. It lists the members (untracked Commit, Get<T>, GetSnapshot, WhereReferences), the null return before the first commit, and the repository lock behavior. This matches the changeset and the PR objectives, so it passes.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 33.33% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 6 functions across 4 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

OpenViewAtCommit and OpenViewBeforeCommit replace ReadAtCommit and
ReadBeforeCommit. The view never changes after the replay, so the caller can
hold it like a transaction or a data reader; reads after disposal throw.

ModelAtCommit wraps the replayed view instead of implementing it, and
exposes only a strict Get<T>, GetSnapshot, WhereReferences and the
untracked Commit. OpenBeforeCommit returns null before the first commit
rather than an empty view, so Commit is never null. The replay runs
under the repository lock.

Assert the authored Word text in the replay-window test.

MatchesGetAtCommitAcrossAReplayedWindow checks only that OpenAtCommit and GetAtCommit return equal values. When both reads replay the same history, a shared replay error produces equal wrong values, and the test passes. At commits[2], the authored Word text is "text 1". Asserting that value gives the test an expectation that does not depend on the second read path.

Update MatchesGetAtCommitAcrossAReplayedWindow to independently verify the
authored Word text at commits[2]: read the Word through a model opened with
OpenAtCommit and assert its Text is “text 1” before the replay-window comparison

Get<T> handed out the cached snapshot's object, so a caller editing it
changed later reads. WhereReferences checked disposal when called, so an
enumerable made before DisposeAsync still yielded the replayed snapshots.

Load the target commit without tracking in OpenBeforeCommit.

The lookup at DataModel.cs:449 tracks the requested commit, but only FindPreviousCommit reads it. With the default AddCrdtData registration, the DbContext outlives the returned ModelAtCommit, so each distinct requested commit stays in the change tracker. Add AsNoTracking() to this query.

Add a test for includeDeleted in WhereReferences.

The reference tests call WhereReferences only with the default includeDeleted: false. No test syncs a deleted referencing entity, so the flag's effect is not checked. The current forwarding is correct, so this change adds coverage only.

Add a test that:

  • Syncs a definition that references a word.
  • Deletes that definition at a later commit.
  • Opens the model at that commit.
  • Asserts that WhereReferences(wordId) excludes the deleted definition.
  • Asserts that WhereReferences(wordId, includeDeleted: true) includes it.
