Fixes the remaining framework adapter bugs found in the competitive audit. The groups below follow the order I'd review them in. Each group is a self-contained topic.
1. Preact timing and recorder actions
Preact: hotkeys, scopes and the recorder's cleanup use useLayoutEffect, so they're ready before the next event after a render. On Preact 11, a removed component's hotkey no longer fires.
React, Preact, Octane:useHotkeyRecorder returns the same action functions on every render.
2. Lit
@hotkey works with standard (TC39) decorators as well as experimentalDecorators. It calls subclass overrides, and with standard decorators it works on #private methods.
HotkeyController adds itself to its host, so a class field is enough.
HeldKeysController reads keys already held when the host connects or moves.
Adding a controller to its host twice no longer subscribes twice.
3. Alpine
An error in a re-run hotkey effect, such as a conflict after a reactive hotkey changes, is reported with reportError instead of stopping Alpine's update queue. The first run still throws to the caller.
Docs: call create* in x-init or init().
4. Alpine and Ember recorder split (breaking, minor bump)
Alpine: the recorder moved out of $hotkeys and createHotkeysScope. Use createHotkeyRecorder($hotkeys, options), or register hotkeyRecorderPlugin and use $hotkeyRecorder(options).
Ember:EmberHotkeysScope.useHotkeyRecorder is removed. Use useHotkeyRecorder(owner, options, scope) to keep the scope's recorder defaults.
Both guides have a migration note.
5. Ember re-renders
select() notifies only when the selected value changes, so useKeyHold and useHotkeyHint don't re-render on every key.
6. Angular
In zone.js apps, listeners attach outside the zone, so typing no longer runs change detection. Hotkey and recorder callbacks still run inside the zone. Adds zone.js as a devDependency for the test.
A target can be an ElementRef or a signal of one, such as viewChild('panel').
Docs: injectHotkeysContext() activates an exclusive provider that has no hotkeys of its own, plus a recipe for views kept alive by route reuse.
7. Vue <KeepAlive>
Pages cached by <KeepAlive> unregister their hotkeys, release their scopes and stop recording while hidden, and restore them when shown again.
8. Element ref targets (docs only)
React and Preact: for an element that mounts later, such as one a child renders from its own state, pass a callback ref stored in state as the target. No API change.
Solid and Lit: notes on removed elements and on ref targets rendered outside the host.
9. Octane custom hooks (docs only)
A custom hook that calls the same adapter hook more than once must live in a .tsrx file, or in a .ts file with an octane import or pragma.
10. CDN duplicate manager
@tanstack/hotkeys/adapter imports the manager and app hotkeys from @tanstack/hotkeys by package name. jsDelivr bundles each entry on its own, so before this change adapters loaded from it had a second manager, and every provider given app hotkeys threw. I checked that jsDelivr pins a package's self-import to the same version, using preact/hooks as an example. Core's tsconfig and Vitest map the name back to src. createAppHotkeysStore is now also exported from @tanstack/hotkeys.

BUG-007: element hotkeys run before framework handlers. Fixing it changes event order and needs a design decision.
BUG-031: server-rendered labels. This needs new provider API.
BUG-044: Octane provider size. This is blocked on Octane.

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Lit hotkey decorators support standard and legacy TypeScript decorators, including private methods with standard decorators.
Angular targets accept ElementRef and signals, and empty scopes can be activated explicitly.
Alpine offers standalone recorder creation and a recorder plugin; Ember recorders can use scope defaults.
Vue pages cached by <KeepAlive> pause hotkeys and recording while hidden.
The shared hotkeys package exports the app hotkeys store.
Bug Fixes
Hotkeys track elements as they mount, change, or are removed across supported frameworks.
Preact hotkeys register and clean up promptly; recorder actions stay stable across renders in React, Preact, and Octane.
Alpine effect errors no longer block subsequent updates.
- Preact: register hotkeys, scopes and recorder cleanup in layout effects.
- React, Preact, Octane: keep useHotkeyRecorder actions stable.
- Lit: @Hotkey supports standard and legacy decorators and subclass
overrides; HotkeyController adds itself to its host; controllers don't
subscribe twice; HeldKeysController reads keys held at connect.
- Alpine: report errors in re-run effects instead of stopping Alpine's
queue; move the recorder out of $hotkeys into createHotkeyRecorder and
hotkeyRecorderPlugin.
- Ember: move the recorder out of createHotkeysScope; select() notifies
only when the selected value changes.
- Angular: attach listeners outside the zone; accept ElementRef and signal
targets.
- Vue: pause hotkeys and scopes in pages cached by <KeepAlive>.
- Core: the adapter entry imports shared state by package name, so CDN
bundles share one manager.
- Docs for callback ref targets, Octane custom hooks, Angular scopes and
route reuse, and Alpine create* calls. Size budgets for each adapter.

Summary
Shared adapter exports packages/hotkeys/*
The adapter imports shared runtime helpers from @tanstack/hotkeys, which now exports createAppHotkeysStore.
Alpine recorder and effects packages/alpine-hotkeys/*, docs/framework/alpine/*, examples/alpine/*
Recorder creation moves to a standalone owner-based API. $hotkeyRecorder is added, and later effect errors are reported.
Angular targets and zones packages/angular-hotkeys/*, docs/framework/angular/*
Targets accept ElementRef and signals. Listener setup runs outside Angular’s zone, while callbacks run inside it. Provider scopes can be activated with injectHotkeysContext().
Ember recorder defaults packages/ember-hotkeys/*, docs/framework/ember/*
Recorder defaults move to an optional scope argument. Store selection tracks changes to the selected value.
Lit lifecycle and decorators packages/lit-hotkeys/*, docs/framework/lit/*
Controllers self-register and prevent duplicate subscriptions. The decorator supports standard and legacy forms.
Recorder actions remain stable across renders. Target registration follows element lifecycle. Vue deactivates cached-page hotkeys and recorder activity while hidden.
TanStack/hotkeys#214: Changes recorder option defaults and optional hotkey and target values; this PR also changes recorder construction and scope handling.
TanStack/hotkeys#207: Changes Lit controller connection and cleanup behavior, which this PR also updates.
TanStack/hotkeys#216: Changes core target registration; this PR updates Angular target resolution and documents target behavior.

either build all packages configured for size checks before running size-limit,
or restrict the checks to artifacts produced by the affected build. Keep the

fail on the Preact artifact.
Review comments at @packages/alpine-hotkeys/src/createHotkeyRecorder.ts:
- Line 44: Update createHotkeyRecorder to resolve an Alpine-proxied owner to its
original object before looking it up in ownerScopes, so recorder creation finds
the registered scope when owners are accessed through hotkeysScope. Use an
existing proxy-to-raw mechanism or an association that works across proxying.
Review comments at @packages/alpine-hotkeys/src/scope.ts:
- Line 66: In the initial effect-run error path at `if (error)`, release the
effect runner and remove its cleanup entry before rethrowing, so retaining the
owner cannot rerun the failed registration.

Review comments at @docs/framework/ember/quick-start.md:
- Line 173: Update the onHotkeys guidance to clarify that a focused descendant
does not guarantee the hotkey will fire: with the default ignoreInputs: 'auto',
hotkeys such as A are suppressed when a descendant text input has focus. Briefly
document the ignoreInputs option as the way to control this behavior.
Review comments at @docs/framework/octane/guides/hotkeys.md:
- Line 123: Update the documentation sentence describing files without a
compiler slot to include both `.ts` and `.js` files, or use “any other module,”
so the warning also covers uncompiled JavaScript custom-hook modules.
Review comments at @docs/framework/vue/quick-start.md:
- Line 157: Qualify the focus guidance in the quick-start text: focus on or
inside the target does not guarantee every hotkey fires, since default input
handling ignores keys such as K in text fields. Mention this exception or link
to the input defaults, while retaining the tabindex guidance.
Review comments at @packages/alpine-hotkeys/src/scope.ts:
- Line 75: Update the failure handling around alpine.release in
createHotkeyBindings.update so a failed initial run destroys only that call’s
partially registered bindings before rethrowing. Preserve registrations
belonging to the same owner’s other createHotkeys calls.
Review comments at @packages/ember-hotkeys/src/useHotkeyHint.ts:
- Line 37: Update useHotkeyHint so registered reflects whether a matching active
registration exists instead of tracking registrations.value.size; add a
regression test confirming that firing an unrelated registered hotkey does not
rerender a hint whose value remains false.
Review comments at @packages/vue-hotkeys/src/useHotkeyRecorder.ts:
- Line 95: Update the `watch(live, ...)` callback to call `recorder.stop()` only
when the recorder is active; avoid stopping it when idle so the last committed
`recordedHotkey` remains available after the page is hidden and restored.
- Line 107: Update the start guard in useHotkeyRecorder so recorder.start() is
allowed during activation hooks even before live.value updates, while still
preventing starts when the page is hidden.
