Changes grouped by use

One PR because all fixes share the workspace overrides and generated pnpm lockfile; splitting them would create lockfile conflicts.

  • Web runtime: next 16.3.8 → 16.4.1 across web, AI gateway, secure proxy, Storybook, and web-shared, with the matching global override. Required @next/env and platform SWC packages follow 16.4.1. Existing MDX/bundle-analyzer versions remain unchanged: neither requires an exact Next peer.
  • Component development: storybook, @storybook/addon-docs, and @storybook/nextjs 10.4.6 → 10.6.2, plus core override. Internal renderer/builder packages stay aligned. Required resolver 11.19.1 → 11.21.2, its bindings/WASM dependencies, user-event 14.6.1 → 14.6.8, reuse of existing react-docgen 8.0.3/magic-string 1.4.3, and new probe-image-size/needle subtree follow the published framework dependency ranges. ws override 8.21.0 → 8.21.1 is required by the patched Storybook core's ^8.21.1 range.
  • Browser sanitization: dompurify override 3.4.16 → 3.4.17, for Monaco and PostHog in web/extension.
  • MCP rate-limit address parsing: ip-address override 10.7.1 → 10.7.4, through express-rate-limit → MCP SDK, including extension/harness/OpenClaw paths.
  • Gastown CLI configuration parsing: toml override 4.2.0 → 5.0.1, through gastown-container → @kilocode/plugin 7.2.52 → effect 4.0.0-beta.57.

Inspected, unresolved here

Exact alert URL Package / manifest Severity Vulnerable range First fixed Reason

https://github.com/Kilo-Org/cloud/security/dependabot/548 @vitest/mocker / pnpm-lock.yaml medium >=4.1.11 <4.1.12 4.1.12 Same existing PR #8547. 5.x alternate range >=5.0.0-rc.2 <5.0.3 is already clear at 5.0.5.
https://github.com/Kilo-Org/cloud/security/dependabot/467 node-forge / pnpm-lock.yaml high <=1.4.0 None No fixed version available; intentional 1.4.0 override remains. Expo/code-signing and adbkit tooling still require review when an upstream fix exists. Not dismissed or claimed fixed.

Checked paginated open PR titles/bodies/package and alert references. #7327 only targets Next 16.3.8 and old advisories, not these <=16.4.0 findings. #7083/#8393 address earlier Hono/MCP/Vite findings. No existing PR found for the patched resolutions in this PR. #8547 may need lockfile regeneration after this lands.

Compatibility and override considerations

  • Selected the smallest published fixed release outside all applicable ranges for each affected package. Node 24.22.1 satisfies repo >=24 <25, Next >=20.9, Storybook's Node 20.19+/22.12+/24 line, TOML >=20, and ip-address >=12; DOMPurify declares no engine/peer restriction.
  • TOML is a deliberate major override outside Effect's ^4.1.1. No fixed 4.x release exists. CommonJS parse API remains compatible, but v5 rejects unsafe integers instead of silently rounding them and enforces signed 64-bit bounds. Tested the actual Effect Primitive.fileParse consumer, normal structures/dates, eight safe integer forms, six unsafe-integer rejections and error propagation. Effect cannot pass the bigint option; configs using >53-bit numeric values will now fail and should represent those values as strings. This behavior change requires explicit reviewer attention; it is not described as a semver-compatible patch.
  • Storybook addons/framework/core remain exactly aligned; preserve React/ReactDOM 19.2.6 with addon-docs-scoped overrides to prevent pnpm choosing a second React 19.3 alongside ReactDOM 19.2.6. Confirmed both resolve to the same module identities as web/Storybook. No global React override affects mobile.
  • Storybook now binds dev to loopback and tightens cross-origin embedding/messaging. No security protection disabled. Existing Chromatic addon 5.2.1 remains peer-compatible, but remote-preview/highlight behavior and the pre-existing Storybook 8 integration under Chromatic Playwright were not browser-tested.
  • Narrow parent-qualified overrides preserve existing hasown 2.0.2, Jest runtime lexers 2.2.0/2.3.1, enhanced-resolve 5.20.1 and tapable 2.3.0. They prevent unrelated resolver upgrades discovered during lockfile review; all remain within unchanged parents' declared ranges.
  • Lockfile added-package audit is limited to targeted fixes and the required Storybook resolver/image-probing/user-event subtree; existing Babel helper and WASM copies are deduplicated/pruned, not new unrelated package versions. Generated peer-context changes follow Next/Storybook/ws. All existing patches/hashes are unchanged. No generated lockfile entries hand-edited.
  • Shared catalog and minimumReleaseAge: 6842/exclusions unchanged. Published fixed versions: ip-address Oct 11, TOML/Storybook/DOMPurify Oct 12, Next Oct 14; all clear the 4d18h2m policy on Oct 23. pnpm enforced the policy for transitives too.

Full-repository lint/test/build was not run; the broader focused lint timed out as above. These are focused compatibility checks, not full-system validation.

Ready for review. Auto-merge is intentionally not enabled: the out-of-range TOML major and untested remote Storybook behavior need reviewer assessment rather than unattended merging.

Warn
Low priority
Potential security risk (AI signal): npm @emnapi/core is 62.0% likely risky

Notes: No explicit evidence of data theft/exfiltration or self-propagation is present in the provided fragment. However, it contains multiple high-impact dynamic execution primitives (eval of WASM-provided script text and new Function-based code generation), plus broad indirect execution via wasmTable dispatch and a powerful overwriteImports hook that can redirect WASM imports. If attacker-controlled inputs can reach the script/function/callback paths or import wiring, the runtime could enable arbitrary JS/WASM-driven execution in the host process. This should be treated as a security-sensitive dependency in threat models involving untrusted WASM or untrusted embedding configuration.

Warn
Low priority
Potential security risk (AI signal): npm @emnapi/core is 74.0% likely risky

Notes: No explicit malware behaviors (exfiltration/stealth/persistence) are evident in this fragment. However, the bridge runtime exposes direct host-code execution capabilities via eval (in napi_run_script) and runtime function generation via new Function (in the function-definition helper), with additional dynamic property installation that increases impact. In deployments where the WASM/native side or the inputs to these APIs are not fully trusted, this constitutes a high security risk and should be reviewed/mitigated (e.g., remove/disable dynamic execution paths, enforce allowlists, and ensure WASM provenance).

Warn
Low priority
Potential security risk (AI signal): npm @emnapi/core is 68.0% likely risky

Notes: This module’s core security issue is explicit dynamic JavaScript execution: it evaluates runtime strings via eval (napi_run_script) and can generate callable wrappers via new Function based on runtime-derived names. If an attacker can influence the WASM side inputs/handles/messages that reach these APIs, they could achieve arbitrary code execution in the host JS environment. Aside from these primitives, the rest of the fragment appears to be standard memory/handle glue and worker orchestration with no obvious exfiltration or credential theft logic visible in the shown code.

Warn
Low priority
Potential security risk (AI signal): npm @oxc-resolver/binding-wasm32-wasi is 75.0% likely risky

Notes: The JavaScript loader is a legitimate-looking WASI/N-API binding that synchronously instantiates and runs an opaque wasm binary. The immediate concerns are the privileges granted to the wasm: the loader passes the entire process.env to WASI and preopens the host filesystem root, giving the wasm potential access to environment secrets and the filesystem. Worker creation also forwards env and routes worker messages into wasm-controlled filesystem proxy functions. The JS code itself does not contain clear malware patterns, but because it executes an external wasm binary with broad privileges, this package carries a significant supply-chain risk if the wasm is malicious or tampered with. Recommend auditing the wasm binary (resolver.wasm32-wasi.wasm), removing or narrowing preopens, and avoiding passing full process.env to WASI/workers unless necessary.

[SUGGESTION]: Document this deliberate semver-major override inline

toml moves to 5.0.1 while its only consumer in this tree, effect (reached via @kilocode/plugin in services/gastown/container), sits on the 4.x line, and v5 rejects numeric values outside the safe-integer range instead of rounding them. Comparable intentional deviations in this block (pg, @sentry/cli, lightningcss) carry a rationale comment, so a short note here would stop a future lockfile refresh from reverting to 4.x or silently widening the behavior change. I found no in-repo TOML parse path, so this is documentation only.

Code Review Summary

Status: 1 Issue Found | Recommendation: Address before merge

Executive Summary

The Next, Storybook and transitive security bumps are version-consistent across manifests and lockfile; the only finding is documenting the deliberate semver-major toml override.

Assumptions: [INFERENCE] Upstream dependency ranges are not recoverable from the lockfile because pnpm writes override values in place of original specifiers, so range violations for next/storybook/toml peers could only be assessed from repo evidence. No in-repo TOML parse path, DOMPurify config, rate-limit ip-address consumer, or production ws usage is affected, but external @kilocode/plugin/Effect TOML handling, remote Storybook/Chromatic preview flows, and registry-side package contents were not executed or verified.
