0.4.x からだが、APIの設計方針を変更したことにより

that has a high affinity with the async/.await syntax stabilized in Rust 1.39

という謳い文句は形骸化してしまっている。

非同期版の FUSE ライブラリという意味では既に fuse3 が有名っぽいので、そちらとの差別化も含めてゴールを再設定しておきたい。

    今考えている設計目標:

    • FreeBSD FUSE / macFUSE への対応は追加せず、Linux FUSE に注力する
      • io_uring や backing file ベースの passthrough サポートなど、Linux FUSE にしか存在しない機能に注力出来る
      • macOS は FSKit があるので、中途半端に互換性レイヤーを入れなくても Userspace Filesystem は実現可能（あるいは macFUSE を使えば良い）
    • 特定の非同期ランタイムに依存しない
