Describe the bug
No sound card because "HDMI failed to get afg sub nodes" after system boot up.

To Reproduce

  1. Boot up system
  2. aplay -l to check, display no sound card.

frequency
About 2/10. Tried as below

Scenaro Without HDMI/DP/WD19 dock
Cold Boot (Power off via long press power button) Pass: 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/6th/7th/8th/9th No soundcard Fail: 5th/10th
Cold Boot (Power off via power off menu) Pass: 1st/3rd/4th No soundcard Fail: 2nd
Warm boot ("sudo reboot" command) Pass: 1st/2nd/3rd/ No soundcard Fail: 4th

Actual result
No soundcard

Expected result
Should load successfully

Error seen with firmware master and kernel integration/soundwire-latest branch.

    Test on CML Man* notebook in HDA mode with same kernel and FW.
    Error also occurred: Frequency: 6/100

    Note: this bug does not happen in mainline sof-dev and seems to be specific to 5.0 kernel branch with the common HDMI driver used.

    Based on debug today, this seems to be caused by missing patch to enable "sync_write" mode for SOF. Backported patch to 5.0 branch is available via PR: #1388
