stackit server resize hangs if server is offline #1667

Description

Description

If I try to resize an offline VM the resize command is issued without warnings or errors and
hangs at "Resizing server". At the portal you can see that the resizing was done but the command
still hangs. After starting the VM, the command "quits" without error and info message "Resized server ".

Steps to reproduce

  1. Shutdown the VM
  2. Run stackit server resize <server-id> --machine-type <new flavor>
  3. Command hangs with status "Resizing server", no progress
  4. Check the portal you can see the VM is already resized after some time
  5. Command still hangs at "Resizing server" (I waited about 15 minutes...)
  6. Start the VM
  7. Command exits with "Resized server "

Actual behavior

The CLI does not give any hint or warning that I try to resize an offline VM - it works, but it hangs until booting the VM.

Expected behavior

There should be a message or handling by the CLI if a VM is offline, it seems that the CLI is waiting for the online
status.

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11, Build 26200.9457
  • Version of STACKIT CLI: 0.74.0 (2026-09-29)
