Tracking issue for release notes of #146832: Not linting irrefutable_let_patterns on let chains #149723

Closed

Description

@rustbot

This issue tracks the release notes text for #146832.

cc @Natural-selection1, @traviscross -- original issue/PR authors and assignees for drafting text

See the forge.rust-lang.org chapter about release notes for an overview of how the release team makes use of these tracking issues.

Release notes text

This section should be edited to specify the correct category(s) for the change, with succinct description(s) of what changed. Some things worth considering:

  • Does this need an additional compat notes section?
  • Was this a libs stabilization that should have additional headers to list new APIs under Stabilized APIs and Const Stabilized APIs?
# Language
- [`irrefutable_let_patterns` lint no longer lints on let chains](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/146832)

Tip

Use the previous releases for inspiration on how to write the release notes text and which categories to pick.

Release blog section

If this change is notable enough for inclusion in the blog post then this section should be edited to contain a draft for the blog post. Otherwise leave it empty.

Note

If a blog post section is required the release-blog-post label should be added (@rustbot label +release-blog-post) to this issue as otherwise it may be missed by the release team.

Judging from the documentation, it seems I should edit this comment directly?
    However, I don't have the corresponding permissions : )
    Is the following text appropriate?

    # Language
    - [`irrefutable_let_patterns` lint is no longer checked on let chains](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/146832)

@traviscross Hey, do you have time to check it out? I think it shouldn't take much time : )

I don't seem to have seen this change in the recent changelog. Is there anything else we need to do?

releases.rs does not always capture upcoming relnotes items (it's not official), and relnotes are still being edited / adjusted on the draft stable relnotes tracking issue (#154711). Relnotes for the next stable version is only really finalized just before the candidate set of relnotes gets merged before stable version bump. In progress relnotes are periodically synced to the draft stable relnotes tracking issue.

There is no further action needed from you.
