Analysis / Root cause:
On the Secret details page, clicking "Reveal values" can be undone by a subsequent page rerender. Calling detailsPage(SecretDetails) during rendering creates a new component type, causing React to remount the details view and reset its reveal state.

Jira: https://redhat.atlassian.net/browse/OCPBUGS-132338

Solution description:
Pass the existing SecretDetails component directly to navFactory.details so its identity stays stable across page rerenders. Add a regression test covering initially masked values, revealing values, page rerenders, resource updates, and explicitly hiding values.

Screenshots / screen recording:

Test setup:
Use a cluster with a Secret containing text data. Open Workloads > Secrets and select the Secret.

Test cases:

  • Click "Reveal values" and verify the values stay visible across page rerenders and resource updates.
  • Click "Hide values" and verify the values are masked again.
  • Automated validation passed: the Secret regression test and existing DetailsPage tests (2 suites, 3 tests), ESLint for the changed files, and yarn tsc --noEmit.
  • The regression test failed before the fix because a page rerender reset the reveal toggle.

Browser conformance:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari (or Epiphany on Linux)

Additional info:
No public plugin API or translatable string changes. Manual browser validation remains pending.

Reviewers and assignees:
/assign rhamilto

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Secret details now remain visible across page updates and resource refreshes when visibility is enabled.
    • Updated secret data is displayed correctly, and values can be hidden again after toggling visibility off.

Pass SecretDetails directly to the tab factory to retain its component
identity. Recreating the detailsPage wrapper during rendering remounted
the view and reset the reveal toggle.

Add regression coverage for page rerenders, resource updates, and hiding
values explicitly.

Walkthrough

The secret details page now passes SecretDetails directly to navFactory.details. Tests cover secret value visibility across rerenders and resource updates.

Changes

Secret details page

Layer / File(s) Summary
Secret details navigation and visibility tests
frontend/public/components/secret.tsx, frontend/public/components/__tests__/secret.spec.tsx
The details navigation passes SecretDetails directly to navFactory.details. Tests verify that revealed values persist across rerenders and resource updates, and that hiding values removes them from the document.

Change: Bug fix

Suggested reviewers: logonoff

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 1972a

This change keeps revealed Secret values visible across rerenders, which fixes the reported bug. If a user navigates directly from one Secret to another already-loaded Secret, the second Secret's values might appear without another reveal click. This is a narrow case with a small fix, so key the data component by namespace and name before merging.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description provides the root cause, solution, test setup, test cases, validation results, browser status, Jira reference, and reviewer assignment. It also states that manual browser validation remains pending.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No functions found in the changed files to evaluate docstring coverage. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 0 functions across 2 files.

Full details: Stable And Deterministic Test Names

Explanation

The added test is a Jest test, not a Ginkgo test. Its title, “keeps values revealed across page rerenders and resource updates until hidden,” is a static descriptive string. It contains no generated names, timestamps, UUIDs, node or namespace values, IP addresses, or legacy metadata tokens.

Full details: Test Structure And Quality

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a Jest/React Testing Library test in frontend/public/components/__tests__/secret.spec.tsx and changes secret.tsx. It adds no Ginkgo It block, cluster resource setup, Eventually/Consistently call, or Ginkgo assertion. Therefore the listed Ginkgo test-quality requirements do not apply.

Full details: Microshift Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a frontend React/ Jest test in frontend/public/components/__tests__/secret.spec.tsx and changes secret.tsx. It adds no Ginkgo e2e tests, OpenShift API references, MicroShift-incompatible namespaces, or unsupported cluster assumptions.

Full details: Single Node Openshift (Sno) Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a frontend Jest/Testing Library test in frontend/public/components/__tests__/secret.spec.tsx, not a Ginkgo e2e test. It uses mocked resources and local React rerenders, with no cluster, node, scheduling, failover, or topology assumptions. The secret.tsx change only passes SecretDetails directly to navFactory.details.

Full details: Topology-Aware Scheduling Compatibility

Explanation

The pull request changes only frontend Secret page code and a frontend regression test. It adds no deployment manifests, operator/controller code, replica settings, affinity, topology spread, node selectors, tolerations, or PDBs. The topology-aware scheduling check is not applicable.

Full details: Ote Binary Stdout Contract

Explanation

The pull request changes only TypeScript/React code and a Jest test. The diff contains no process-level Go code, stdout writes, klog configuration, or Ginkgo suite setup. The test's beforeEach/afterEach/it blocks are explicitly excluded by this check.

Full details: Ipv6 And Disconnected Network Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a frontend Jest/React test in secret.spec.tsx and changes secret.tsx. It adds no Ginkgo e2e tests and contains no IPv4 networking assumptions or external connectivity requirements covered by this check.

Full details: No-Weak-Crypto

Explanation

The pull request changes only the Secret details component identity and adds regression tests. The added test uses js-base64 to encode fixture values; it introduces no MD5, SHA1, DES, 3DES, RC4, Blowfish, ECB mode, custom cryptography, or secret/token comparison.

Full details: Container-Privileges

Explanation

The pull request changes only a React component and its test. The diff adds no container or Kubernetes manifest, and it introduces no privileged setting, host namespace option, SYS_ADMIN capability, root execution setting, or allowPrivilegeEscalation setting.
