[Bug]: Official AppImage 0.21.10 fails to launch on Ubuntu 24.04 / Linux Mint 22 due to GLIBC 2.43 requirement #8016
I have tried resolving the issue using the support portal
I have ensured my Modrinth App installation is up to date
What version of the Modrinth App are you using?
0.21.10
What operating systems are you seeing the problem on?
Linux
Describe the bug
The official 0.21.10 AppImage fails to start on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS / Linux Mint 22 due to missing GLIBC symbols:
ModrinthApp: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version GLIBC_2.43' not found (required by /tmp/.mount_Modrin.../usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0) ModrinthApp: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version GLIBC_2.43' not found (required by /tmp/.mount_Modrin.../usr/lib/libwebkit2gtk-4.1.so.0)
ModrinthApp: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.42' not found (required by /tmp/.mount_Modrin.../usr/lib/libwebkit2gtk-4.1.so.0)
It seems the build runner packaged libraries linked against GLIBC 2.43 (Ubuntu 25.04?), making it incompatible with LTS distributions (Ubuntu 24.04 has GLIBC 2.39).
Steps to reproduce
Download Modrinth.App_0.21.10_amd64.AppImage on Ubuntu 24.04 or Linux Mint 22
Make it executable (chmod +x)
Run it from terminal or file manager
App fails to launch with GLIBC errors
Expected behavior
The AppImage should launch normally on current LTS distributions like Ubuntu 24.04 (as previous releases like 0.18.2 / 0.19.2 did).
Additional context
I compiled the app from source locally on Linux Mint 22 against system libraries and it launches fine. Building the release AppImage on an older base (like Ubuntu 22.04) would resolve this for LTS users.
