🔵 Needs a closer look

Live rollout prerequisites remain unverified: replacement rulesets must preserve protections and required checks, the GitHub App and Dependabot credentials must be provisioned, and merge-group check dispatch needs validation.

What changed in this PR

Prepares Kiota Ruby’s repository automation for the planned merge queue by updating Dependabot auto-merge authentication and removing the existing branch-protection policy file.

Changes:

  • Uses a GitHub App token for non-major Dependabot auto-merges while reducing default token permissions to read-only.
  • Limits the auto-merge job to Dependabot PRs originating in the same repository.
  • Deletes the checked-in branch-protection policy.
File Description
.github/workflows/auto-merge-dependabot.yml Switches auto-merge to GitHub App authentication and tightens permissions and PR eligibility.
.github/policies/kiota-ruby-branch-protection.yml Removes the existing branch-protection policy file ahead of the merge queue transition.
