This is a project that I worked on during my second computer science class at University of Michigan - Dearborn. The Computer Builder system is a C++ application that demonstrates object-oriented programming principles and data structure implementation for managing a computer manufacturing business. Built using C++11 with Visual Studio 2022, the project showcases OOP concepts including encapsulation, composition, and strategic use of friend classes to balance data protection with necessary access.
The system implements a tag-based file parsing system for reading supplier data, SKU information, packing lists, and order requests, with error handling through return codes. Key technical features include a linked list implementation for supplier management, vector-based dynamic collections for orders and inventory, and a simulation engine that models build capacity using FIFO scheduling with separate tracking for actual versus simulated stock levels.
