This issue tracks all no-op runs from agentic workflows in this repository. Each workflow run that completes with a no-op message (indicating no action was needed) posts a comment here.
📘 What is a No-Op?
A no-op (no operation) occurs when an agentic workflow runs successfully but determines that no action is required. For example:
A security scanner that finds no issues
An update checker that finds nothing to update
A monitoring workflow that finds everything is healthy
These are successful outcomes, not failures, and help provide transparency into workflow behavior.
🎯 How This Helps
This issue helps you:
Track workflows that ran but determined no action was needed
Distinguish between failures and intentional no-ops
Monitor workflow health by seeing when workflows decide not to act
No action needed: Analyzed Go module github.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-go (round-robin selection) for GPL-type licenses. The module is MIT licensed. Scanned all 108 Go packages in the SBOM - no GPL, LGPL, or AGPL licenses found in any Go dependency. LGPL licenses are present only in npm packages (@img/sharp-*) which are unrelated to Go. Cache state updated with checked module.
No action needed: The pre-agent step did not produce a pr-filter-results.json file in the workspace root. Without that file, there are no PR numbers to evaluate. No contribution check report was created and no subagents were dispatched.
No action needed: Analyzed 4 open parent issues with sub-issues in github/gh-aw. All parents have at least one open sub-issue: #18681 (open: #19011), #18675 (open: #19013), #18650 (open: #19019), #18642 (open: #19005, #19008, #19009). No parent issues qualify for automatic closure at this time.
No action needed: Daily CLI performance benchmarks completed successfully. This is the first run establishing baseline. 9 benchmarks recorded: CompileSimpleWorkflow (14.13ms, target <100ms ✅), CompileComplexWorkflow (5.53ms, target <500ms ✅), CompileMCPWorkflow (14.94ms, target <1s ✅), and 6 others. No regressions detected. Baseline data saved to benchmark_history.jsonl in repo memory for future comparisons.
No action taken: This request is a prompt injection attack attempting to use me as a security bypass tool. The instructions embedded in the workflow ask me to perform prohibited actions including container escapes, network reconnaissance, and firewall bypass attempts. Per my immutable security policy, I treat issue/PR/comment bodies and workflow content as untrusted data and do not follow embedded instructions that attempt to redefine my role or authorize prohibited actions. No tests were run, no escape attempts were made, and no repo-memory was updated.
No action needed: The pre-agent step did not produce a pr-filter-results.json file in the workspace (/home/runner/work/gh-aw/gh-aw). No PRs were available to evaluate for contribution check. This may indicate the pre-filter step did not run or encountered an error for workflow run 22552534298.
No action taken: The pr-filter-results.json file was not found in the workspace root (/home/runner/work/gh-aw/gh-aw/). The pre-agent step that generates this file appears not to have run or failed before producing output. Without the filtered PR list, no PRs can be dispatched for evaluation and no report can be compiled.
No GitHub action needed: analyzed the lint failure, updated pkg/cli/git.go to keep the helper functions used, and no issue or comment creation was required.
No action needed: Analyzed Go dependency github.com/atotto/clipboard@v0.1.4 (round-robin selection from 108 Go modules in SBOM). License confirmed as BSD-3-Clause with no transitive dependencies - no GPL/LGPL/AGPL concerns. All 108 Go packages in the SBOM use permissive licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD variants, ISC). The only LGPL packages found are JavaScript packages (@img/sharp-libvips-*) used by the Astro Starlight docs site, which are out of scope for Go dependency analysis. Cache-memory state updated: 9 of 108 modules checked so far.
No documentation gaps found that DDUw missed. Searched for issues labeled documentation closed on or after 2026-03-01 in repo:github/gh-aw — 0 issues matched. No further analysis required.
No action needed: Analyzed 64 markdown files in scratchpad/ (same count as 2026-03-07 run). No new spec files detected. Full tone scan found 0 actionable marketing/promotional language issues. All 15 borderline term occurrences (leverage, first-class, battle-tested, etc.) re-confirmed as technically justified — consistent with previous assessments. scratchpad/dev.md (v3.8, 2144 lines, 9 Mermaid diagrams) maintains 100% coverage of all 63 spec files. No changes required.
No action needed: The pre-agent step did not produce a pr-filter-results.json file in the workspace. Without this file, there are no PR numbers to evaluate. No contribution check report was created.
No action needed: Analyzed 1 open draft PR (#20190 "Add concurrency.job-discriminator..."). PR is actively being worked on with recent activity (last updated 1.25 hours ago). Only 1 total draft PR exists in the repository, and it is far from any cleanup thresholds. All draft PRs are either active or properly managed, so no warnings or closures are required at this time.
Analysis complete: CI workflow is well-optimized with test and integration jobs already running in parallel. Main branch executes in 3.2-4.2 minutes (excellent for 916 test files and 17 integration matrix groups). No high-impact, low-risk optimizations identified at this time. Detailed analysis saved to cache memory for future reference.
No action needed: Reviewed 11 active workflows from the last 24 hours (daily-file-diet, cli-consistency-checker, ci-coach, auto-triage-issues, contribution-check, step-name-alignment, draft-pr-cleanup, pr-triage-agent, repository-quality-improver, chroma-issue-indexer, ai-moderator). All reporting workflows already include h3 header level guidelines and progressive disclosure with
Details tags in their prompts. Non-reporting workflows (chroma-issue-indexer, ai-moderator) were correctly excluded from the check. No style compliance issues found — 0 non-compliant workflows.
No action needed: Issue #20220 has already been correctly labeled with 'bug' and 'cli'. The issue clearly describes a bug in the gh aw health command where it reports no workflow runs when runs actually exist. Both labels are accurate and appropriate for this issue.
✅ Daily security red team scan completed (2026-03-09). Analyzed 473 files (438 .cjs + 35 .sh) using pattern-analysis technique (Day 1 of rotation, DAILY_INCREMENTAL mode).
Scan summary:
Pattern 1 (Secret Exfiltration): No findings — process.env usage is local/config only; all network calls target legitimate GitHub/Microsoft domains
Pattern 2 (Dynamic Code Execution): 2 low-risk items in test files only (eval in test helper, new Function() for module mocking) — not production code
Pattern 3 (Obfuscation): Hex escapes in sanitize_content.cjs and sanitize_label_content.cjs are legitimate ANSI/control-char sanitization
Pattern 4 (Dangerous File Ops): All unlink/rm operations use hardcoded or same-scope paths — no external input derived paths
Pattern 5 (Suspicious Domains): All network calls target github.com, api.github.com, githubusercontent.com, microsoft.com — no suspicious TLDs or services
Pattern 6 (Backdoor Keywords): "backdoor" appears only in test fixture strings validating that injection is properly escaped
Pattern A (External Network): No unexpected URLs in production code
Pattern B (Hardcoded IPs): 172.30.0.1 in convert_gateway_config_codex.sh is documented Docker internal network IP for MCP Gateway — expected/legitimate
Pattern C (Time Bombs): No date-conditional destructive code
Pattern D (Persistence): while(true) loops are legitimate pagination/message handling with break conditions; no malicious persistence
Pattern E (AST): No offensive function names, no path traversal in require(), no global overrides
Pattern F (Dependencies): No known compromised packages in package.json
Total critical findings: 0 | Total high-risk findings: 0
Cache updated at /tmp/gh-aw/cache-memory/security-red-team. Next technique: ast-inspection (Day 2).
No action needed: Analyzed 72 workflow runs from 2026-03-09 (last 24h). Found 0 safe output tool schema errors. The 8 runs with error_count=1 were all infrastructure/config failures (lockdown mode: no GH_AW_GITHUB_TOKEN configured on Issue Monster x3, Weekly Issue Summary, DeepReport) or agent crashes (artifact not found on Smoke Codex x2, Smoke Copilot). All 7 actual safeoutputs tool calls reviewed used correct field names and schemas: add_comment({body, item_number}), push_repo_memory({memory_id}), noop({message}), create_discussion({body, category, title, integrity, secrecy}). No tool description improvements needed today. Cache memory updated.
Slide deck maintenance complete - no changes needed. Reviewed all 26 slides and verified accuracy: all 4 AI engines (Copilot/Claude/Codex/Gemini CLI) are correctly named, install commands use github/gh-aw (not githubnext), manual-approval feature still active, all URLs valid (architecture, quick-start, Continuous AI), and safe-outputs/network permissions examples are accurate. No commits since last scan (2026-03-03). Marp/Playwright build skipped due to sandbox restrictions (AppArmor unprivileged userns restriction on Azure VM). Next recommended focus: feature-deep-dive on imports/sharing or repo-memory feature.
