Renaming a tracked folder or file does not warn or update git #1600
Description
What Happened?
Renamed a tracked folder inside a git repository using the sidebar. The folder was renamed but git was not updated resulting in large numbers of untracked files.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open a git repository
- Rename of folder
- Check git status
Expected Behavior
Either git should be updated transparently so the files continue to be tracked or show a dialog warning and giving option to update git.

Hello, while researching more about this issue, I found that it is expected to have the original folder and its contents marked as
deletedand the renamed folder and its contents marked asuntrackedby Git as Git only tracks file paths and not directories. There is alsogit mvshould the user want to rename a folder and also have Git track it.This behaviour is also observed in VSCode and VSCode uses the badge counter at the side panel to inform the user the number of files affected by the renaming operation (it still requires the user to manually add the renamed folders to track it). I thought this feature would be more appropriate to be developed as part of the GitHub Plugin feature if we were to implement something similar.
