Summary

  • replace the stale single-consumer notification with one matrix fan-out workflow
  • resolve the newest commit that actually changed spec/ and dispatch that immutable SHA
  • notify both the Postman publisher and Chargebee CLI with the same validated payload
  • hard-fail token or dispatch errors so a broken notification is visible
  • retain manual dispatch for recovery

Consumers create or update fixed-branch, human-reviewed pull requests. This producer never writes consumer branches and never auto-merges generated changes.

Rollout dependency

Keep this PR in draft until both consumer workflows are merged on their default branches.

The existing GitHub App must be granted access to:

  • the Postman consumer repository in chargebee-tech with Contents write permission
  • chargebee/cli in chargebee with Contents write permission

The existing POSTMAN_DISPATCH_APP_ID and POSTMAN_DISPATCH_PEM_KEY secret names are unchanged.

Validation

  • workflow YAML parse
  • actionlint
  • canonical spec/ commit resolution against the current public repository
  • payload generation and SHA validation
  • branch is one commit ahead and zero commits behind main

Replaces the Postman-only notification with a matrix workflow that dispatches the newest validated spec/ commit to the Postman publisher and Chargebee CLI. Each event includes the immutable SHA, source ref, and supported versions. Token or dispatch errors fail the workflow. Consumer changes remain human-reviewed.

Walkthrough

The pull request adds a workflow that validates the latest commit affecting spec/ and sends publication events to the OpenAPI generator and Chargebee CLI repositories. It removes the previous workflow that notified only the OpenAPI generator.

🟡 Minor · Resolve SPEC_SHA once before the matrix fan-out. · notify-openapi-consumers.yml:41-44

.github/workflows/notify-openapi-consumers.yml:41-44
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Resolve SPEC_SHA once before the matrix fan-out.

Each matrix job runs the resolver independently. If a second push changes spec/ between those API calls, the jobs can send different source_sha values to Postman and CLI. Use one resolver job and pass its output to both matrix entries.

Move the `SPEC_SHA` resolver out of the `notify` matrix job into a single
non-matrix resolver job, expose its result as a job output, and make `notify`
depend on that job. Update the consumer step to read the shared SHA from the
resolver job output so both matrix entries use the same commit.
