[feature request] make results fully readable while searching by tag #914

Description

@Rom1-GoPlay

Currently, when I click on a tag, the app opens a list of all notes containing this tag. Each item of this list is clickable so I can open each corresponding note individually. Before clicking on an item, all I can read is a kind of preview of the note.

My Suggestions

Option 1

Instead of displaying a preview of the note, I would like to have a whole editor for each note letting me to edit the note without having to leave the tag view. In other word, I would like to replace the previews by the notes themselves.

Option 2

The other idea is to implement #837 first. Then instead of displaying the whole note, just display bloc (list item, paragraph) concerned by the tag. The bloc would also be editable without first opening the note.

Why

When I start writing a note, I don't want to care about things like:

  • Where I store it
  • If I create a new one or appending to an old one
  • the title
  • Etc.

I just want to write what I am thinking about. Some of the previous elements are easier to find once the note is written.

That's why each time I want to write something, I create a quick note. Then, when I need to read about something specific, I use tags. As my quick notes are short and I have a lot of them, it is not convenient to use the graphical tag searching tool. So I created a python script that use the zn commend (using subprocess) in order to generate notes that are a concatenation of all containing a given tag. This is similar to option 1 except that:

  • If I edited a generated note, changes will be lost as soon I execute my script again.
  • I can't just click on tags, I have to execute a script and then find the generated note

So, adding this feature (option 1 or option 2) would better fit my workflow. I am open for discussion around this.

Thank You

I still want to thank everyone working on this project. When writing a feature request, I talk a lot about current problems but If I am writing it in the first place, it is because there is a lot of good points that make me use the software:

  1. open source
  2. Interoperability: I can open mardown files with other apps (without the noise of a special syntax they don't understand)
  3. built in PDF export
  4. the zn command
  5. Saving my vault in the folder of my choice
  6. text replacements
  7. and more
