I mean, you already can open a file outside of a Zen Vault. Just right-click on the file and Open with and the pick/look for ZenNotes; don't you have that menu option? What system to you use and what ZenNotes version are you using?

Also, when you open that non-vaulted file, you have the Edit and Preview options on the top right.

Now, about not having an Edit and Preview mode, i.e., just one single mode .. we'll I don't think the project is going to implement this [I hope it doens't]. Those two modes are useful and have their use cases. Requesting to remove it doesn't really make sense as a Feature request, in my honest and humble opinion.

The good thing is: if you don't need the Edit mode, then just don't click on it; and vice-versa with the Preview mode.

PS: as a tip, if you want your issues to be worked on, provide more information. At least a proper description of your problem; some screenshots, maybe; what system you use, etc.; that helps a lot.

Both models are useful, I understand.

However, when I open an md document in Vault, it integrates editing and preview. For example, I can see the preview results of the table in real time when editing.

However, when an md document is opened outside the Vault, its editing and preview are separate, which is a little puzzling in terms of user experience.

And a switch can be added so that users can now open the md file outside the Vault and how to display it.
