Self-taught backend dev who occasionally wanders into frontend territory and immediately regrets it. I mostly code for fun and for my personal use cases.
TUI > GUI. If I can do something in the terminal, I will do it in the terminal (bcz terminal = more powah) (except web browsing-- I will die on that hill).
Comfortable with
- Python
- JavaScript
- HTML
- C
Getting there
- Lua
- Zig
Currently bullying me
- C++
- Rust (nothing personal, I just haven’t wrestled them into submission yet) (Except for C++, that's fully personal)
- Backend-first mindset
- I like small tools, weird utilities, low-level shit. Just stuff for the sake of stuff, y'know? But it's gotta be like, semi-practical, I guess.
- Once what I'm doing is working, I will not stop refactoring it until I either reach a wall (that I can't pass, or isn't worth) or until I'm bored.
- I can and will throw away code and start over
You can and will question my design decisions. I, myself, question them too; that's just part of my development/fleshing out process.
- I sometimes use generative AI as a tool (debugging, ideas, explanations)
- Not a fan of image/video gen AI
- Strong preference for understanding why something works, not just that it does (will get cthulu'd if you show me a rabbit hole too deep) (Also should it be cthulu'd or hastur'd? Idk)
- Rest assured, I use ethical AI (not displacing people or wasting water, not stealing people's works) most of the time. Local models if possible.
Absolute terminal hermit.
Editors, debuggers, file managers -- if it has a CLI version, I’ll be using it. Probably.
If you’re reading my code and thinking “why is it like this, this is cursed”
congratulations, you’re reading it correctly.
This text did have some AI assistance in it. Felt guilty about it so did a partial rewrite. Still feelin a bit guilty
