[1.8-1.9] Invalid signature for profile public key #708

Open

Description

@MelvinMod

On 1.8.x-1.9, some servers giving the error "Invalid signature for public key of profile". If ViaProxy is translating between 1.8.9 and 1.19+ it should translate the encryption.

Actually, I think the problem may be that:

  1. Client connects to ViaProxy on 1.8.9
  2. ViaProxy connects to the real server using 1.19+
  3. The real server sends a request for encryption with profile key requirements
  4. 1.8.9 encryption request is sent to ViaProxy
  5. Client sends encryption response 1.8.9 (verifyToken)
  6. ViaProxy translates this into 1.19+ encryption response
  7. But ViaProxy can not generate a valid signature because it does not have the profile keys

So the issue is on the side of any version of ViaProxy.

The solution would be to:

  1. Connect to ViaProxy with a newer protocol version that supports signature encryption
  2. Or pass the profile keys to ViaProxy somehow
  3. Or connect directly to the server with the correct version (it's somehow different on servers)

Upload the ViaProxy config and send a screenshot of the advanced tab if you use the GUI

yes and no at the same time, even without "chat singing" the same stuff, and once i got some small java's error window about some error in java, but i can't remember what was that

Obivously you can't join if the server requires chat signing and chat signing is disabled. What I mean is that it apparently doesn't send the profile keys correctly to the server

Connecting to a 1.8 server with a 1.8 client over ViaProxy should definitely not cause that error. I don't know what the root cause is. I will work on it as a low priority issue (So it will probably be fixed next month or so)

also, i have an other question, will it possible to make Java servers works with Legacy Console Edition? there is tool already for that, but have problems with Game's Packet.cpp (on some servers)

I won't provide any support for legacy console edition. You have to ask the creator of the tool

i was asking you to make something similar to this tool (funtion or plugin) but anyways, i have noticed that plugins in ViaProxy-3.4.11 does not works, including Geyser

Plugins definitely work. Also you are going very off-topic for this issue. If you need further support, you should join the ViaVersion discord and ask in the support chat
