Android 16: fixed landscape orientation is ignored on large screens #31

Closed

Description

@compot-dev

The activity uses android:screenOrientation="sensorLandscape". With targetSdk 36, Android 16 ignores orientation and aspect-ratio restrictions on large screens (smallest width ≥ 600 dp): tablets, foldables, desktop mode. The app can then appear in portrait. Lint reports this as DiscouragedApi.

In portrait, updateResolution() sizes the view from the screen height (see #17), so the video becomes much wider than the screen and is cropped heavily.

Fix: make the layout work in any orientation (fit the video inside the view, #17) and rely less on the fixed orientation.
