ci: isolated-install smoke tests on the PR's own built packages - #2093
ramakrishnap-nv wants to merge 6 commits into
Conversation
Install a single nightly component (client, mathopt or routing) from pip or conda in a clean container, build a small gtest against only that package and run it. Add a scheduled, non-blocking workflow that runs the matrix. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Signed-off-by: Ramakrishna Prabhu <ramakrishnap@nvidia.com>

Add non-blocking isolated-install-wheels / isolated-install-conda jobs to pr.yaml that depend only on the packaging builds, install a single freshly built component and build + run a small gtest against it. The container scripts take local wheelhouses / a local conda channel and fall back to the nightly sources for local use. Remove the scheduled nightly workflow, which the PR jobs supersede. Fix clang-format and cmake-format style issues. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Signed-off-by: Ramakrishna Prabhu <ramakrishnap@nvidia.com>

When the nightly index has no compatible candidate, pip can fall back to the public PyPI

- pass continue-on-error: true to the shared test workflows (the real mechanism for non-blocking; ignored_pr_jobs only skips the dependency check) - require the component under test (and the client) to exist in the local conda channel instead of silently falling back to nightlies - set -euo pipefail in the CI runners; per-component failures still collected - pin local wheels with a constraint file and reject 0.0.0 placeholder installs - drop the python3 dependency from container_conda.sh package check - guard the empty GPU_ARGS array expansion in run.sh for bash < 4.4 Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Signed-off-by: Ramakrishna Prabhu <ramakrishnap@nvidia.com>

Re: "Use the nightly index as the primary index for local installs" (container_pip.sh): not changing it. |
Summary
Adds
ci/isolated_install/and two PR jobs that install one freshly built cuOpt component (client, mathoptorrouting) on its own, build a small gtest linking onlycuopt::<component>, and run it.isolated-install-wheels(pr.yaml):needsonlywheel-build-libcuopt-{client,mathopt,routing}(+compute-matrix-filters,changed-files). Uses the sharedwheels-test.yaml, scriptci/test_isolated_install_wheel.sh. Gated ontest_python_wheels.isolated-install-conda(pr.yaml):needsonlyconda-cpp-build. Uses the sharedconda-cpp-tests.yaml, scriptci/test_isolated_install_conda.sh. Gated ontest_cpp.isolated_install_filterruns one amd64 / latest-deps job per CUDA major.container_pip.shtakesWHEEL_DIRS(prebuilt wheels) andcontainer_conda.shtakesLOCAL_CHANNEL; both fall back to the nightly index/channel, whichrun.shstill uses for local runs (seeci/isolated_install/README.md).Non-blocking for now
The new jobs are not in
pr-builder'sneeds(they are inchecks'ignored_pr_jobsinstead) and passcontinue-on-error: trueto the shared test workflows (their real non-blocking input), so they should not block merges or fail the workflow. Undo both once they are green. They are expected to fail until #2094 (single-component packaging fixes) lands:/usr/lib64/libcudss/13/./libcudss.so.0.CUDAToolkit/nvcc,rmm,raft, which the wheel does not declare.cuopt-config.cmake.CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH(handled by the script).Expected today: mathopt/pip, client/pip and all conda cases fail; routing/pip should pass. #2094 also makes client-only installs not require
CUDAToolkit/rmm/raftin the CMake config, so once it lands the client cases are expected to pass too. Add the jobs topr-builderonce they are green.Client sample test
The client package ships only a tiny header set (
export.hpp,error.hpp,status_codes.h,mathematical_optimization/constants.h,utilities/timestamp_utils.hpp,grpc/*); the parser headers are in the mathopt headers, andprintTimestampis not defined inlibcuopt_client. Sotests/client/client_test.cppdoes not call an API. It includesconstants.h(assertingCUOPT_MINIMIZE == 1/CUOPT_MAXIMIZE == -1) anddlopen()slibcuopt_clientwithRTLD_NOW(path from$<TARGET_FILE:cuopt::client>) to check that every symbol resolves in an environment holding only this package. What has / has not been verified
pr.yamljobs, the shared-workflowmatrix_filterselection, the artifact download calls and the conda path inside the CI containers are untested.python:3.12image withWHEEL_DIRSset, using the pip-installednvcc(cuda-toolkit[nvcc,cudart,cccl]) and a fetched, pinned GoogleTest. The CI container may differ (e.g. its toolchain or glibc).shellcheck, bash -nand a YAML parse ofpr.yamlare clean. Style fixes forclang-formatandcmake-formatmarkers were applied from the CI log; the style job still has to confirm.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
