Add swipe to archive/delete for the SMS application #25
[ x] I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - to which I could contribute my information.
[x ] I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
[x ] I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the feature request will be dismissed otherwise.
[x ] This issue contains only one feature request.
[x ] I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The simple sms application requires a long press to select and fumbling through the menu to archive/delete. The ability to swipe left or right is a more common gesture and imo is more intuitive.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be great to have the left or right swipes configurable to either archive or delete.
Describe alternatives you've considered

I'll agree, with the emphasis on CONFIGURABLE. I know some people would like this, but I don't like it. For me, another SMS app I used which had it was perpetually accidentally archiving things because I can be a little ham-handed. If this feature is present, but can be disabled, I'd see it as an improvement.

Would love to see this. As others said making it user defined (Archive, Delete, None) as implemented in Gmail is the best option. Love the light weight app.
Without the swipe, deleting messages is a 2 step process.
I can't believe Fossify is just a one man project.

Reverting
needs triagebecause we need to have UI/UX similar in all apps. More info here: FossifyOrg/Phone#77 (comment).jcharaoui commentedon Aug 30, 2024
This missing feature is the only thing preventing my from migrating from the stock Android app: that swipe gesture got under my skin somehow!

I have opened a unified architectural proposal in General-Discussion to address the cross-app consistency and ViewPager conflict raised here: https://github.com/orgs/FossifyOrg/discussions/966
