   The build failure is coming from the dependency dev-libs/libfmt

   This issue has been fixed upstream by fmtlib/fmt#4477, and the fix was merged in 12.1.0, but your build log shows it is attempting to use fmt 11.1.4:

   Run-time dependency fmt found: YES 11.1.4
