GitHub Education verification: Camera countdown finishes but photo is not captured

Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education Team,

I'm trying to apply for GitHub Education benefits as a student at BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

However, I'm experiencing a technical issue with the document verification process.

When I click "Capture photo", a three-second countdown begins, but after it finishes, no photo appears or gets uploaded. The application continues to display the error "This field is required."

I've tried using different devices and photographing both my computer screen and a printed official admission letter, but the issue persists.

Additionally, the camera defaults to the front-facing selfie camera, even though the purpose is to photograph academic documents.

My school provides official PDF enrollment documents, but the application does not offer a direct file upload option.

Could someone from the GitHub Education team help resolve this issue or provide an alternative method to submit my documents for verification?

Additional details:

Devices tested: Windows desktop and iPhone.

Browsers tested: Chrome and Brave.

The three-second countdown completes, but the captured image does not appear in the preview area.

Clicking "Submit Application" results in the error "This field is required."

I have already registered for two courses in BYU-Pathway Worldwide's October 2026 block.

Is this a known issue? Is there an official workaround or a way to upload the original PDF instead?
